Service · Hedging & pruning

Hedges so clean residents stop and stare.

The work that gets us the most compliments. Sharp formal hedges, skilled feature pruning, restoration of hedges that have gone way too long — all by qualified horticulturists.

Why book us for the hedge

Anyone can buzz a hedge. Few can shape it.

The difference is plant knowledge. Knowing when to prune lilly pilly vs murraya. Knowing how hard you can cut back a viburnum. Knowing which conifers won't recover from a hard cut. Qualified horticulturists making the call — every time.

🌿

Plant-aware pruning

We know when each species can be cut back hard and when it can't. We work with the plant's biology.

Restoration capable

Hedges let go for years can often be brought back — we'll tell you what's salvageable and what needs replacing.

Feature pruning

Cloud pruning, ornamental shaping, topiary upkeep — skilled work that's hard to find.

Clean tidy-up

Clippings collected, paths blown down, green waste removed. Site cleaner than we found it.

For neglected hedges, we plan staged cuts so the plants recover — not crash.

String lines on big runs. Hand pruning on feature plants. The right tool for each species.

Maintenance schedule

Formal hedges need regular cuts to stay sharp. We'll book you in on a cycle that suits.

★★★★★
The operations manager came down the Monday after the hedges were last done — this is the best they have ever looked. I had our locksmith say in 10 years it's never looked as good as it does now. You guys have set the bar high.

Common questions

Hedging FAQs.

How often should a hedge be trimmed?

Formal hedges typically need 3–4 cuts a year for that sharp look. Informal hedges and screens can usually be cut twice a year. Fast-growers like lilly pilly may need more in summer.

Our hedge has been let go — can it be saved?

Often yes — but it depends on species. Lilly pilly, murraya and viburnum usually recover from hard cut-backs. Conifers and some buxus are more delicate. We'll assess and tell you straight.

What height can you reach?

We hedge to whatever a long-reach hedger and platform will safely manage. For taller work or tree-form hedges, our chainsaw-ticketed crew handles canopy work to 5 metres.

What happens to the clippings?

Default: collected and removed. Green waste removal is included. For acreage sites we can chip into your mulch pile on request.

Can you handle one-off hedge rescues for a sale or open home?

Yes — common request. We aim to schedule the day before the photographer or open home, so the work is fresh.
